Rob Says Kristen Is Fierce
The Twilight vampire told Merrick, Dools and Ricki-Lee that meeting the 20-year-old actress for the first time was "weird".
"It was weird. I mean, everything about the pairing with Kristen kind of worked out for the story," he said.
"I went in to the audition having absolutely no idea of what to do and because of the way she was playing it kind of shocked me into doing a performance that I didn't realise I could do.
"I guess she brings a kind of toughness and also a kind of mystery to Bella, which is not really there in the book.
"She's kind of in a lot of ways, a damsel in distress in the book, and Kristen's very...there's a kind of fierce fierceness behind her, which I didn't really expect the actress who played Bella would have."
The British actor said he is still surprised at the success of Twilight and that its success puts a certain pressure on him.
"In the beginning I had no idea. It seems to get bigger and bigger and bigger every week that is going past," he said.
"I feel pressure to live up to making a good movie, but I mean the expectations are so diverse."

The pair headed out into the world famous bay just five hours after landing in Australia for the spectacular adrenalin ride, which is hugely popular with tourists. As they got off the boat after the one-hour ride, Kristen and Taylor shook themselves to get rid of some of the water. Kristen then took off on a run, taking off on foot along one of Sydney’s picturesque wharfs.
At one point she jumped in the air, clapped, yelled “whoop! C’mon!” then ran off around a corner followed by her concerned entourage. Taylor found it all incredibly funny and burst out laughing, and applauded his friend Kristen as she took off on foot. He then said he found the whole boat experience: “Very good.”
Kristen, wearing a black hoodie and black jeans, and Taylor, in a plaid shirt and grey slacks, plus their entourage left their exclusive hotel at lunchtime on Sunday (May 30) to board the boat, called Hammer, run by Oz Jet Boating. The fiery-red boat has a huge shark’s eyes and teeth painted at its front and flames shooting out of the rear.
It can travel at 85km/h and can perform 270-degree spins and the boat has more than 700 horsepower Cummins Diesel engines with Hamilton jet units on it for extra power. After climbing on board, Kristen, who had also put on a large beanie hat and shades, let out a “Whoo yeah!”
Taylor, also hiding behind some Ray Bans, looked down at his feet and smiled.
From Circular Quay, they headed out into the bay for a thrilling ride, with views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
Then – soaking wet from the sea spray – they departed the boat at Walsh Bay, an upmarket area with fancy bars and restaurants. Other stars to recently enjoy the ride include singer Pink, actor Paul Walker and George Michael.
Kristen, who plays Bella Swan, and Taylor, who plays Jacob Black, are in Australia to promote their new movie, Twilight: Eclipse.

But upon docking at Pier One, around the corner from their hotel, the Park Hyatt, Stewart snapped.
"She was just in a bad mood because of the photographers," one fan, who asked for a picture but was refused, said. "She sprinted along the wharf trying to get away.
"She was swearing at them and tried running into a restaurant, but the door was locked.
"She was saying, 'Stop taking my picture'."
Stewart dropped her sunglasses while trying to evade the cameramen, but they were picked up by her personal security.
Both stars were then picked up by a convoy of black 4WDs and taken to a suburban wildlife park, where they were given a private tour of the small zoo and allowed to hold the animals.

The Bella Swan babe let loose while out on her balcony, flipping the bird to paparazzi while joined by a gal pal.

The 20-year-old actress recently chatted with Flaunt magazine about her strong dislike for the social networking game.
Kristen shared, “He [a fan] was nice. He didn’t ask for a picture. That’s good, because then they go and Twitter them and then the paparazzi know where I am and they drive to my location and it gets crazy. Twitter ***** me over every day of my life. Because people go, ‘I’m sitting next to Kristen Stewart right now’ and then they show up. I see people on their phones and I just want to take these cookies and throw them. It’s like ‘Get off your ****** phone and get a life!’ It’s so annoying.”
